This clear glass threaded insulator is embossed with "Hemingray-9"
on one side and "MADE IN U.S.A." and "41-48:" on the other side.
The bottom edge is trimmed with small, evenly-spaced, glass beads.



These insulators were first used to insulate the telegraph lines 
from the wooden support poles so that the electrical signal
would not be shorted to ground through the pole.
